The TSA is delighted to be partnering with Epilepsy Research UK to co-fund new, vital research into TSC-related epilepsy through the Fellowship Award. After a rigorous process of reviewing applications, we can now announce that Dr Amanda Almacellas Barbanoj has been chosen for the award!
The Fellowship Award is a major opportunity to push TSC-related epilepsy research further, widening its scope and giving Dr Barbanoj (University College London) the opportunity to become a leader in TSC research. Dr Barbanoj’s research will allow us to better understand the relationship between TSC and epilepsy. The hope is that this will then mean that new ways to treat and manage TSC-related epilepsy will be unlocked, such as medicines and therapies. This could mean that people have fewer and less severe seizures, reducing the impact of TSC on everyday life.
TSC-related epilepsy can be a debilitating and life-changing condition, with 8 in 10 people with TSC also having TSC-related epilepsy. Epilepsy Research UK shared the below video to confirm the announcement.
We look forward to updating you on Amanda’s progress!
