Following the International TSC Research Conference 2021 (ITSCRC2021), which took place 17-19 June 2021, the TSA is delighted to share the ITSCRC2021 community recap page. The recap page provides an overview of the exciting research that took place at the conference, including exclusive videos from TSC professionals developed especially for this page.

The ITSCRC2021 recap page can be found here. The page has been developed to give the TSC community a taste of what the event was like, with videos, an overview of the event, and even a special ‘Welcome’ message from Sir David Suchet CBE.

Research videos on the recap page, made especially by TSC professionals for the community, include:

  • Towards socially responsible research in TSC
  • Tuberous Sclerosis Complex: Is prevention possible?
  • Growth control by the TSC-mTOR pathway and therapeutic strategies for TSC
  • Research into new and available therapies for TSC-Associated Neuropsychiatric Disorders (TAND)
  • Early diagnosis and epilepsy prevention: Results of the EPISTOP study
  • First steps in gene therapy for Tuberous Sclerosis Complex
  • Genetics and pathogenesis of kidney angiomyolipona: MITF and other TFs

Around 250 TSC professionals from around the world attended the virtual ITSCRC 2021. ITSCRC2021 talks and presentations focused on six key areas of TSC across three days. These areas were chosen as they have been identified as the most important to people affected by TSC. This ensured that the research, networking and collaboration achieved through ITSCRC2021 would have as big an impact as possible on those who live with the impact of TSC globally.

The key areas were:

  • Early diagnosis
  • Early risk assessment
  • Basic science and pre-clinical work
  • New and available therapies
  • Prevention
  • Social research

Community members are also encouraged to ask questions about TSC research – questions will be then responded to directly, as well answered as part of an upcoming ‘Research Q&A’ recording. Questions can be sent on the ITSCRC2021 recap page.
