A garden in aid of the TSA will be unveiled at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show, alongside the TSA releasing an online Tree of Dedication to offer a special way to honour loved ones affected by TSC

Landscape designers Jen Donnelly and Catherine Gibbon will create the ‘Room to Breathe Hospital Garden for the TSA’, inspired by personal experiences of hospitals as part of life with TSC, and the need for a peaceful, green refuge. Jen’s son, Alex, has TSC and underwent brain surgery at the age of four. During this time, Jen found herself without access to any outdoor spaces when in hospital with Alex, something that left a lasting impact. This experience, along with her and Catherine’s work rejuvenating hospital gardens at NHS Amersham Hospital, led them to design a garden that will offer calm, connection, and a moment of peace to those who need it most.

Alongside the garden, the TSA is inviting people to take part in the Tree of Dedication, a virtual tribute to someone special to them in the TSC community. Every donation adds a personalised virtual leaf to a growing digital tree, symbolising the strength, unity, and support of the TSC community.

While the garden will be a highlight at Chelsea Flower Show, its impact will continue long after the event. Following the show, the garden will be relocated to a hospital courtyard, where it will provide a lasting sanctuary for patients, caregivers, and NHS staff, offering them a much-needed space for reflection and respite.

Participants in the Tree of Dedication can opt to receive a free pack of seeds, allowing them to create their own small green space at home. Whether in a garden, balcony, or windowsill, it’s a chance to grow something beautiful as a reminder of hope and connection. If you visit the garden at Chelsea Flower Show, or plant your seeds at home, we’d love you to share your photos and videos with us!
