Join us for a special series of virtual events, where we embrace the power of music therapy for children in the TSC community
Music therapy is a recognised health and therapeutic intervention, with the power of music having the potential to improve all areas of health and wellbeing. In a series of four free virtual events during November 2022, the TSA welcomes Nordoff Robbins – the UK’s largest music therapy charity – and their talented musicians to support the development and wellbeing of children living with TSC.
Whether you’ve been to music therapy classes before or if this is your first time, you’ll be warmly welcomed. Don’t worry if you’re not a musician yourself – there’s no experience required!
The four FREE music therapy sessions, exclusively for the TSC community, will take place Wednesday 6pm – 7pm 2, 9, 16 and 23 November.
More about Nordoff Robbins
As the UK’s largest music therapy charity, we stand for music and believe in the value of music for all people in our society. In particular, we use the power of music to enrich the lives of people affected by life-limiting physical and mental illness, disabilities or feelings of isolation. We provide a range of different sessions for children and adults of all ages in our centres across the UK – from specialised one-to-one music therapy to shared sessions for groups of different sizes and formats. We also work in partnership with over 280 organisations to bring music therapy to as many vulnerable people who could benefit from it as possible. These include schools, care homes, hospices, hospitals, mental health services, and brain injury units.
More about the session leader, Jo Humphreys, BMus MMT (NR)
Jo qualified as a music therapist in 2013 after completing the Master of Music Therapy programme at the Nordoff Robbins London Centre and has worked as a music therapist at Nordoff Robbins ever since. She has been lucky enough to meet and make music with a diverse range of children and adults in special and mainstream schools, hospitals, community settings and more recently, online. In 2016 she established the first Nordoff Robbins work in South Wales and now supports a growing team of therapists across South Wales and the Southwest of England. She is passionate about working with people to realise their musical potential, and make the social, cognitive, physical and emotional benefits of music accessible to everyone.
