DESCRIPTION:Grab a minced pie\, a cracker and your winter jumper – Outlook is going festive once more!\nOutlook is our group for adults who are mildly affected by TSC. Every year\, the Outlook group have different opportunities to meet up with others who understand the impact of being mildly affected by TSC. In a series of four free virtual events during November 2022\, the TSA welcomes Nordoff Robbins – the UK’s largest music therapy charity – and their talented musicians to support the development and wellbeing of children living with TSC. \nWhether you’ve been to music therapy classes before or if this is your first time\, you’ll be warmly welcomed. Don’t worry if you’re not a musician yourself – there’s no experience required! \nThe four FREE music therapy sessions\, exclusively for the TSC community\, will take place Wednesday 6pm – 7pm 2\, 9\, 16 and 23 November. \nMore about Nordoff Robbins \nAs the UK’s largest music therapy charity\, we stand for music and believe in the value of music for all people in our society. In particular\, we use the power of music to enrich the lives of people affected by life-limiting physical and mental illness\, disabilities or feelings of isolation. We provide a range of different sessions for children and adults of all ages in our centres across the UK – from specialised one-to-one music therapy to shared sessions for groups of different sizes and formats. We also work in partnership with over 280 organisations to bring music therapy to as many vulnerable people who could benefit from it as possible. These include schools\, care homes\, hospices\, hospitals\, mental health services\, and brain injury units. \nMore about the session leader\, Jo Humphreys\, BMus MMT (NR) \nJo qualified as a music therapist in 2013 after completing the Master of Music Therapy programme at the Nordoff Robbins London Centre and has worked as a music therapist at Nordoff Robbins ever since. She has been lucky enough to meet and make music with a diverse range of children and adults in special and mainstream schools\, hospitals\, community settings and more recently\, online. In 2016 she established the first Nordoff Robbins work in South Wales and now supports a growing team of therapists across South Wales and the Southwest of England. DESCRIPTION:Around one in two people who live with TSC are neurodivergent. In this virtual event\, we meet The Brain Charity to discuss neurodiversity in more detail\n \nNeurodivergence is the term for when someone’s brain processes\, learns\, and/or behaves differently from what is considered ‘typical’. Examples of neurodivergence includes autism spectrum disorder and Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). \nIt is normal and quite common to be neurodivergent – whether that means you have only a small number of support needs\, or require support needs that a very high. DESCRIPTION:Many people in the TSC community are carers for loved ones who live with TSC. Caring can be an exhausting\, selfless and incredibly challenging step – with little time for respite \n \nIn this free virtual event\, the TSA welcomes The Respite Association to discuss the importance of carer self-care and respite for carers. The Respite Association was founded by people all with first-hand experience of caring\, and the stress and hurdles that come with caring for loved ones. \nIf you’re a carer in the TSC community\, you’ll be welcomed into an understanding and warm virtual event\, focused on helping you and your family. \nThe virtual event will take place through Zoom on Wednesday 11 May\, 6pm – 7pm. DESCRIPTION:One of the most common ways that TSC can affect someone is problems with the kidneys. In this free virtual event\, kidney experts Dr Chris Kingswood and Dr Nicholas Annear (St George’s University Hospital) discuss TSC and kidneys in more depth\n \nAround eight in every 10 people living with TSC will experience some kidney problems at some stage of their life. DESCRIPTION:Virtual event: TSC and lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM).\n \nAround three in every 10 women who live with TSC\, and a very small number of males\, also develop complications in the lungs\, called ‘lymphangioleiomyomatosis’ (or ‘LAM’). This webinar will focus on how people living with TSC can be supported to live well alongside ongoing health problems. It will focus on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)\, a type of talking therapy that encourages openness to and awareness of the present moment in order to help people maintain behaviours consistent with their life goals. \nACT fosters engagement with\, rather than avoidance of\, painful experiences to move towards acceptance of unchangeable difficulties alongside building a rich and meaningful life despite the presence of ongoing difficulties.

This is a unique opportunity to hear from one of Britain’s best-loved performers and ask the questions you’ve always longed to ask him.  \n\nAt this very special virtual fundraising event\, Sir David will discuss his incredible career across stage\, television and film\, as well as his passions and interests away from performing. You can send us your questions for Sir David\, and we’ll ask as many as we can fit into the hour! \nWhether bringing to life the iconic Hercule Poirot\, portraying an expansive list of Shakespearean characters or even lending his voice in the recent BBC production of His Dark Materials\, Sir David Suchet CBE’s award-winning work has led him to be one of Britain’s most celebrated actors. \n‘In Conversation with Sir David Suchet CBE’ will take place through Zoom on Thursday 18 February\, with details shared to registered attendees before the event.
